Build a re-engagement series
Edit in CMSA re-engagement series automatically sends targeted messages to subscribers who have become disengaged (not opened newsletters in a certain number of sends). Use it to win them back with special offers, new content, or a final ask before removing them from your list.
Create the Automation
Section titled “Create the Automation”- Go to Automations and click + New Series or Create Automation.
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g., “Q2 Re-engagement”, “Win back inactive readers”).
- Under Trigger, select Re-engagement or Subscriber Inactive.
- Configure the trigger:
- Set the threshold (e.g., “Haven’t opened in 5 sends” or “Inactive for 30 days”).
- (Optional) Exclude specific subscriber segments or tags.
Design the Series Steps
Section titled “Design the Series Steps”- Click Add Step or Add Message to create the first email in the series.
- Select or create a template for your re-engagement message.
- Personalize the content:
- Acknowledge the lapsed engagement (“We miss you!”)
- Offer value (e.g., a discount, new content, curated articles)
- Include a clear call-to-action
- Set the timing:
- Immediately upon trigger, or
- Delay X days before sending the first message
- (Optional) Add follow-up steps:
- Click Add Another Step to create a second message
- Set the delay between steps (e.g., 3 days later, 7 days later)
- Typical series: 2–3 messages over 1–2 weeks
Preview & Activate
Section titled “Preview & Activate”- Review all steps and timing in the summary view.
- Click Preview to see how messages will look to subscribers.
- Click Activate to start the series.
- Subscribers matching the re-engagement criteria will automatically begin receiving messages.
Monitor & Adjust
Section titled “Monitor & Adjust”After activating, check the series health and performance:
- View open rates, click rates, and unsubscribe metrics
