How to Set Up Promotions in Letterhead

Edit in CMS

Promotions let you monetize your newsletters by selling ad space to advertisers. For everything the Promotions area can do, see Working in Promotions.

For most accounts, promotions are created and managed at the Company level — the view that spans every organization and channel in your company — not within an individual organization or channel. You’ll need to be a company admin. (A small number of long-standing accounts still use the older organization-level flow instead — if your Organization view has its own Promotions page with Templates/Promotions/Campaigns tabs, you’re on that flow; see How to Update the Character Limit on a Promotion Type for what’s different there.)

From the Company view, click Promotions, then Create campaign. For the full walkthrough — the fields to fill in, activating a campaign, and viewing your promotions afterward — see How to Use Company-Level Promotions.

Before creating a campaign, decide what ad types you’ll offer (text, image with text, banner, native, or HTML for pasted ad tags or custom code) and where each should appear in a newsletter (Header, Hero Section, Mid-body, Bottom-body, or Footer).

Place promotions in newsletters — or skip placement entirely

Section titled “Place promotions in newsletters — or skip placement entirely”

Once a promotion is scheduled, either:

  • Add promotion placeholder blocks to your newsletter drafts yourself, selecting the matching zone for each block, so your scheduled promotion populates the slot automatically based on the send date; or
  • Turn on Auto Inject and pick a position right in the campaign’s own setup — no separate template step — so it drops into every send automatically, with no manual placement. See How Auto Inject Works for what each position means and how it behaves once it’s on.
  1. Decide on ad types and locations.
  2. From the Company view, create a campaign and add your promotion’s content to it.
  3. Include promotion blocks in your newsletter (or use Auto Inject) so sold ads populate automatically.
