View suppression status and reasons on a contact profile

Edit in CMS

Each contact profile includes a Suppressions section showing every newsletter the contact is suppressed from and the reason for each suppression, so you can answer deliverability questions without leaving the profile.

  • Newsletter name — which publication the contact can’t receive.
  • Reason — why they were suppressed, with the specific bounce details shown when a bounce caused the suppression.
  • Suppressed date — when the contact was removed from that newsletter, shown with the subscription information.
  • Undeliverable warning — if a hard bounce has made the address undeliverable everywhere, the profile shows a warning, and permanently undeliverable addresses appear as a single “suppressed everywhere” entry rather than one entry per newsletter.

When an email address hard-bounces, the contact is suppressed from every newsletter they were subscribed to — the profile reflects the current state across all your publications, not just one newsletter at a time. The list is also reconciled daily against the email provider’s suppression records, so it stays in sync with reality.
